The 3,500 dollars buy-in event already shattered its 2 million dollars guarantee on Day 1a of the World Poker Tour or WPT Lucky Hearts Poker Open, and there is still one Day 1 starting flight available (Saturday).

On Friday, reigning champion Brian Altman and World Series of Poker (WSOP) Player of the Year Josh Arieh were among the 893 contestants at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

WPT Lucky Hearts Poker Open : Season is Up and Running

The 20th season of the World Poker Tour began on Friday with a bang. Saturday’s Day 1b begins at 11 a.m. ET.

Another strong field is expected, including those players who failed to qualify during the first session. The second day is set for Sunday, with the final table (Day 5) taking place on Wednesday.

But, before we get too far ahead of ourselves, there’s some business to be done at the South Florida casino. On Day 1a, a slew of big-name pros tried their luck at the WPT Lucky Heart Poker  Open Champions Club. Among the recognizable figures were Anthony Zinno, Nick Schulman, Gal Yifrach, and Joe McKeehen.

Each participant started with 40,000 chips, and the first session consisted of ten 60-minute stages. Play ended about 11:30 p.m. local time, with 241 players progressing to Day 2 roughly 27 percent of the field.

Jesse Lonis, who has been on a roll in tournaments over the last year, took the chip lead with pocket queens facing a big bet on an ace-high board and bagged the chip lead at 685,000 chips. His opponent was on a stone-cold bluff and lost his whole stack shortly before the session ended.

Altman, the reigning champion, and Arieh, who didn’t have as much success on Friday as he had during the 2021 WSOP, both busted before the game concluded. On Saturday, both players will have the option to re-enter the event.

Chance Kornuth’s heater was also temporarily halted. The Chip Leader Coaching was one of several Day 1a eliminations following a successful Stairway to Millions series in Las Vegas that featured two winners. Joe Cada, Vanessa Kade, and Erik Seidel were among those who did not win.

Jeremy Ausmus (330,000), reigning WPT Player of the Year Jake Ferro (277,000), and Ali Imsirovic are among the prominent players that survived and progressed with large stacks (210,500).

After the WPT 3,500 dollars Lucky Hearts Poker Open Main Event concludes each day, PokerNews will provide daily summaries, find out more game at ratu89 site.
